What is Domestic Violence? Domestic violence is the use of control over another in any case gender is NOT related. Why don't women just leave? There are so many answers to this question nonetheless research has show the risk to the victim relating to deaths can occur when a victim tries to leave an abusive partner. A very carefully calculated escape plan is needed and sometimes the plan can take weeks, months and sometimes years to execute. According to GCADV 44% of victims are being stalked by the abuser when they leave. DO NOT BLAME THE VICTIM!!!! Should she just send an email if she needs help? Technology is good and bad in some cases. The abuser could have a monitoring device or software on the computer or cell phone and can track the victims movements. Even recording phone calls and using GPS to track the victims whereabouts...Be very careful... How do I get OUT??? Create code words to use with your loved ones, seek help in devising an escape plan. Break your silence and tell someone today, File a protective order (once you have an escape plan) your escape plan MAY have to include moving, relocating or being in hiding for a good while. One lady called 911 and pretended to order a pizza. The 911 operator pick up that she was in danger. There were 105 deaths in Georgia during 2016. "Break the Silence" 
Victims Compensation
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council administers the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program, which helps victims and their families through the emotional and physical aftermath of a crime by easing the monetary impact placed upon them by providing financial benefits for expenses such as medical bills, loss of earnings, funeral expenses, mental health counseling, and crime scene sanitization. - Make a safety plan detailing where you and your children will go and what you will do in the event of an emergency.
- Keep a bag packed and safely stored away with items you will need.
